Quiet Day

First order of business:
Welcome new watchers!! :huggle:
:iconberriy: :iconmynnimon12: :iconhoursuponhours:
Go show them some love, everyone.

I'm home alone for the day. Just chillin' in my pjs on the couch with some gingersnap tea and my yarn. A very good Sunday indeed.

Even though I missed church. :( Sadness on that front.

So I realized this morning that I haven't found many of you Deviants and your artsy works on Facebook or Etsy. I guess I've just been slacking on cross-promotion lately!! So you guys should post links to your shops and Facebook pages so we can all be bffs all over da interwebz.

*pokes links at the left*
The aptly labeled 'shop' and 'facebook' links will take you to my shop and facebook if you wanna fave me that way. :D
(Gotta love journal skins!! All the fancy linky buttons and whatnot.)

Speaking of fancy links, I went to thank someone for faving my work and to give them a link to my shop. Well, I thought the last thing I had copy/pasted was my etsy url. So I pasted, and didn't really look to make sure it was the right url. Yeah. I'm a moron. Instead of my shop, I linked that poor deviant to a youtube video from Portlandia.

:iconotlplz:

Oops.

So what is everyone working on?

I've embarked into motif-tunic land and started the Zany Tunic. I'm mildly terrified of blocking it at some point....but I'm trying not to think about that right now. I've got eight out of seventy-eight motifs done. :boogie: And plus, it's join as you go! WOO HOO less ends to weave.

Hope you all have nice weekends and survive going back to school after break or whatever. :D

What butts.
Haha, you should google: "Portlandia Put a Bird On It" and see if you can find a site that supports the video in Aussieland. :XD: It's a pretty funny video.

Yesterday (my sunday) was meant to be a quiet one, with just a tea party in the arvo with friends. But after staying in bed till 11 (lazy start, but the rest was hectic), I had to drive my boyfriend to big shopping centre so he could have lunch with his ex he is now friends with. I went to grocery store for biscuits and such for the tea party, had a small lunch, then went home. Ten minutes of being home I get a phone call off the boyfriend to pick him up again. Do so, dropping into multiple shops hunting down a bluetooth dongle for my brother. Finally get home, it's about 2pm by this point. Continue packing/cleaning/etc for the move, realise it's 330pm and I have to pick up a friend for the tea party, going via another friend's house for more computer stuff for my brother, and finally home for 430pm. Thus starts the tea party, which lasted till about 730pm (om nom nom, lovely ice tea and iced vovos with lamingtons).

Followed by cleaning up, then continued cleaning of my room for packing untill 11pm. Today was meant to be the busy day, but I'm still in recovery from yesterday so shifted a lot of chores to tomorrow. ^__^ It's now noon and I'm still in my pj's, thinking maybe I should go through a shower but really not wanting to. Job hunting online instead, me thinks. Bwhahah.

Also, you can find my crochet page on fb under www.facebook.com/shinyshinycrochet :)

Oh my gosh, BUSY DAY!!
The tea party sounds delightful, though. Was it a fancy dress tea party or just hang out for tea party?
And, I feel like a goof, but what exactly is "iced vovos with lamintons"? ^^;

Job hunting is always good. And you totally deserved the day off today! (can I say 'today' since you are a day ahead of me, technically? you deserved the day off tomorrow? You deserve Monday off? You deserve sleepy time. That works.)

Have any luck finding a job? And you must be getting close on packing your goodies up for the move. How long until the big day?

Just a hang out tea party, though all of us wore dresses (one friend borrowed one of mine because she couldn't find anything to suite and felt left out. lol).

Awww!!!! It's alright, they're Australian and at times I forget that. Iced vovos are buscuits with pink icing and jam with coconut on top. [link] Lamingtons are vanilla sponge cakes with light chocolate icing all over with coconut all over. Traditionally also have cream and jam inside, but ours didn't because I'm not much of a fan of cream. (jam being conserve for you I think?) [link]

^_^ Thanks, I think we go with deserving sleepy time. lol.

Not a lot of luck with job hunting; it's difficult from a distance and with having limited experience in the field. Just finished my diploma in IT networking, and most of the jobs that line up with that are senior positions which I really can't fulfill. -.- Hopefully moving on the 23rd, but still waiting on feedback from real estate too. >.< Again, distance sucks for this kind of thing.

Those cookies (biscuits) sound amazing. Oh my gooooosshhh.
Jam works. We also call it jelly. Or preserves. Whatevs. Generally the same thing.

Yupp. So looking forward to it being over. Still a long way from being recognised as a couple by the army, but at least it'll be easier this way... ish.

They truly are fantastic. Love them so very much. Had them heaps as a kid when I'd go to see the grandparents, so now they've got happy memories linked as well as yummy goodness.

Ahkay, good good. ^_^ I've said jam to people before and they don't know what I mean. :/ English language is strange across countries.

Lol, what sillies. Don't know what jam is.

I love it when Brits come to the US and don't know that we don't mean sweets when we say 'biscuits.' Our biscuits are more like dinner rolls. Kinda. Not sweet at all. We have a dish here called biscuits and gravy that always grosses the Brits out. My cousin overheard a british girl once complaining "These Americans....they put GRAVY on their biscuits. Can you believe that??" Hahahaha. Cultural differences will getchya.

lol. Yupp.

We have cookies and biscuits; it's kind of the differences between cupcakes and muffins. Cookies are really sweet, crumbly, big, with chocolate and icing and other sweet stuff. Biscuits are more savoury and less crumbly, to have with tea and coffee.

&& I have to admit, the term does sound really gross with out context. lol.

I got sick on my birthday, best gift evvah...not really...so I've built a fort on the couch... No fever yet tho, only a nasty soar throath and no voice what so ever.

I know, right? I found it yesterday and it's just the most awesome thing ever! It must have taken AGES to make.

The tunica is like the one I made for myself before christmas [link] but it's dark grey as base color and lighter gray on the neck. I've knitted up to the thights or so now... As soon as the body's finished, the arms and chestpiece will go by quick!

It looks so pretty!!! :meow: I'm working on a crocheted tunic right now. It's....slow. kinda. I don't know how you knit them! I mean, mine is motifs so it really is going quite fast. I'm just used to hats that take no time at all. :XD:

That video is epic. I showed my sis and she was also amazed.

It takes forever to knit the body on the tunics, since it's size 2 needles and 300+ stiches around. But even tho the chestpiece has almost 400 stiches, it goes fast cause you can see the progress when you knit the fair-isle pattern. It's the same with a normal striped scarf. It feels faster cause you're like "just one more stripe, just one more" and it's easier to see the progress!

Yeahhhhh seeing the progress always helps. I can really visualize my progress on this tunic because it's totally a grid pattern. My goal is to have it done to wear to work Saturday. ^^;
We shall see....

Indeed... That's one of the reasons I love fair-isle so much, there's pattern all the time and I'm like "ok, half of this rose and I can take a break... WOW that went fast!" :3

What color(s) is the tunic that you're working on? =D

Neon teal is really the only way I can describe it. It's Nashua Handknits Creative Focus Worsted in Turquoise. (the link to the color is a really bad representation, but at least it gives you an idea) It's really bright and pop-ish. I looovvveeeee it.

I want to fair isle so bad. I lust over the colorworks. So many traditional patterns to knit!! So much history.
