Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

On TES elvesAlright can I just say how much I love the elves in the Elder Scrolls
J.R.R. Tolkien popularized elves as these otherworldly, divinely beautiful creatures which sorta established the standard for the race in all modern fantasy that came after. They're nearly immortal, distant, and to me, plain boring. Then around comes Morrowind, the game that really made me fall in love with TES, its world and its lore!! The elves of TES have a long history, and each subrace has their own cultural identity. The elves no longer just sit in their Crystal ivory towers (well I guess some of them do) and sing to their trees or whatever - they're flawed, complicated PEOPLE, and extremely proud of who they are. The haughty Altmer, the hostile Dunmer from the Ashlands, the cannibalistic Bosmer, the late Dwemer and their scientific achievements…. when was the last time any elves modeled after Tolkien's work had this much cultural diversity??

So I realized this morning that I haven't found many of you Deviants and your artsy works on Facebook or Etsy. I guess I've just been slacking on cross-promotion lately!! So you guys should post links to your shops and Facebook pages so we can all be bffs all over da interwebz.

Speaking of fancy links, I went to thank someone for faving my work and to give them a link to my shop. Well, I thought the last thing I had copy/pasted was my etsy url. So I pasted, and didn't really look to make sure it was the right url. Yeah. I'm a moron. Instead of my shop, I linked that poor deviant to a youtube video from Portlandia.

Oops.

So what is everyone working on?

I've embarked into motif-tunic land and started the Zany Tunic. I'm mildly terrified of blocking it at some point....but I'm trying not to think about that right now. I've got eight out of seventy-eight motifs done.

And plus, it's join as you go! WOO HOO less ends to weave.

Yesterday (my sunday) was meant to be a quiet one, with just a tea party in the arvo with friends. But after staying in bed till 11 (lazy start, but the rest was hectic), I had to drive my boyfriend to big shopping centre so he could have lunch with his ex he is now friends with. I went to grocery store for biscuits and such for the tea party, had a small lunch, then went home. Ten minutes of being home I get a phone call off the boyfriend to pick him up again. Do so, dropping into multiple shops hunting down a bluetooth dongle for my brother. Finally get home, it's about 2pm by this point. Continue packing/cleaning/etc for the move, realise it's 330pm and I have to pick up a friend for the tea party, going via another friend's house for more computer stuff for my brother, and finally home for 430pm. Thus starts the tea party, which lasted till about 730pm (om nom nom, lovely ice tea and iced vovos with lamingtons).

Followed by cleaning up, then continued cleaning of my room for packing untill 11pm. Today was meant to be the busy day, but I'm still in recovery from yesterday so shifted a lot of chores to tomorrow. ^__^ It's now noon and I'm still in my pj's, thinking maybe I should go through a shower but really not wanting to. Job hunting online instead, me thinks. Bwhahah.
